At Nachtwaechter German Shepherds, our puppies are the product of painstaking attention to detail...from the planning of the parents to the moment of their birth to the day they go home. We don't stop there. When you take home a Nachtwaechter puppy, you truly become part of an extended "family". We're so proud to have such wonderful families for our puppies, and to have the opportunity to watch them grow, develop, and represent the German Shepherd Dog!

How does the process of buying a puppy work?

The first step is to be honest with yourself about what type of dog you and your family are looking for. Do you have an active lifestyle? Are you willing to spend time and money providing adequate training for your new pup? Is everyone in the family on-board with this decision? What are your goals with the dog? (Well trained companion, service dog, schutzhund/IPO, AKC/UKC events, conformation shows, agility, personal protection, etc.)

After evaluating your lifestyle and goals, please reach out to us and let us know what you feel is a good fit for you and your family. If you're not sure, or you'd like some guidance with that, we're happy to assist there as well!

Together, we will discuss our coming litters, and the expectations of what each litter may produce. Please note! Nothing is a guarantee! There is variation amongst littermates just as you are most likely different from your siblings. However, we can provide you with a very educated opinion on what you will most likely see as your pup develops and matures based off of the parents and past litters from those parents.

The step to secure a puppy for you is placing a deposit. Deposit order determines your place in receiving a puppy (ie, if there are 3 male deposits but only 2 males are born then the first two deposits placed will receive puppies from that litter). Deposit order does NOT determine pick order. Puppy picks are done by us in order to match each individual with the puppy that is best suited to their needs. Of course, we will discuss our thoughts with you as your pup is individually selected for you, usually around 6-7 weeks of age. Color cannot be guaranteed, but we will do our best to accomodate. We place puppies according to temperament/drive and suitability to that individual home first and foremost.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

Deposits are non refundable but are transferable to a different litter if you so desire or if there are not enough puppies available in the litter, or if the breedings do not take. In the latter two situations, your reservation will be moved to the top of the next litter in the order in which the deposit was received.

What is included with my puppy?

Puppies are sold on Limited Registration (aka NO Breeding Rights) with the American Kennel Club (AKC). For litters bred overseas or litters which have one or two imported parents, registration will be delayed. Each puppy comes with a 26 month guarantee against hip and elbow dysplasia. Puppies will be up to date on deworming treatments, age appropriate vaccinations and microchipped. All health information will go home with the puppy. Lifetime support is included with each of our puppies.
